Yamazaki whiskey holds a significant place in whisky history as the birthplace of Japanese whisky and the flagship product of Suntory. Celebrating 100 years of whisky-making, the House of Suntory has launched a range of centennial releases, featuring Yamazaki alongside Hakushu and Hibiki. The distillery’s legacy began in 1923 when Torii chose the Vale of Yamazaki for its ideal conditions. With the expertise of Taketsuru Masataka, who brought knowledge from Scotland, Yamazaki produced its first whisky, Shirofuda, in 1929, followed by the popular Kakubin in 1937.
